Sweet Addiction

Let me start by saying: I love Diet Coke. Like, LOVE it. It began about 20 years ago, stealing sips of my Grandmama Louise's daily beverage. During college, I often referred to it as my "life juice" because I couldn't start my day without an ice cold one. (I still hate the way it sounds referring to college in the past tense. WHEN I WAS in college, BACK IN college, etc. Just tastes bad. )

In the spirit of living a healthier lifestyle, I have decided to break my habit. I am going cold turkey, people. No more will I drink 2 cans of this refreshing beverage each day. I've heard people say that they've lost like 10 lbs. from cutting out diet sodas all together. I've also heard plenty of segments on the news discussing the health hazards of Aspertame (the artificial sweetener used in diet drinks) and how bad sodas are in general. So as of yesterday, I am done with it.

Does anyone share this addiction? I feel like I may need a support group.

IKEA

Tyler and I ventured out to the IKEA today. Little did we know what we were getting ourselves into. If you haven't been to IKEA before, you need to make it your business to go. It is just about the craziest place I have ever seen. Quite the zoo on a Saturday afternoon, might I add. It was overwhelming, yet amazing. Shopping in big mass-producing stores (i.e. Cosco, Sam's Club, etc) gives me a thrill. IKEA was nothing short of spectacular. I realize that the quality of their furniture, accessories, etc may not be tip top but for twenty-something apartment living it is perfect. The best part was we (i.e. Tyler) assembled the bookshelf/entertainment center we purchased in less than 30 minutes. We bought these super sturdy woven wicker baskets to go in several of the shelf openings that make it look all the better. AND we found a set of 6 wine classes for $4.99. I somehow always end up breaking the nice stemless wine glasses we have so these will probably last until I'm a hundred. Long story short, I was in awe of all the great stuff they had in one (huge) place. Does anyone else love IKEA?!

Puttin' it out there

So I have finally set a date to move down to Florida. I will be moving the 25th. I have never been so anxious in my entire life. I am being a complete baby. I am excited and optimistic about the good things to come...it's just scary to be moving so far from home. So far from my family. So I've set the date. I'm puttin' it out there--I'm scared to death. I feel like I'm going to sleep away camp for the first time. With all the time I've had to think lately, I know one thing is for sure. When I really settle down and have a family, I'm going to have to be in the state of NC. I just love my family. And my darling Mama. So there it is. I put it out there.

On August 25th I will put my big girl pants and my brave face. And then Barkley and I will take the leap. With the company of several audiobooks.
