The time has come

Well, almost...but I figured I better go ahead and post since I will likely be away from the computer for a few days. I also noticed in my planner today that I have an assignment due Sunday night by midnight. Super. Right in the midst of all of the moving craziness.

Since TG has already been working in Chicago, most of the packing and cleaning has been up to me. It's just how it had to be. He's working hard on his end too. But that doesn't make it any easier or any less overwhelming.

My mom and sister were here for a few days which made it much more bearable. Since they left, I've been kind of lonely. Let's just say I've started talking to the dogs a lot. I have really come to realize that I'm a people person. I grew up in a big family where our house was never quiet. When I was in college, I lived in the sorority house 2 years and then lived in off campus houses with groups of girls after that so I've never lived alone. Kudos to people that can do it. It's just not my cup of tea.

I'm just so ready to move and be settled! I love organization so living in disarray is driving me nuts. Unfortunately I packed up my pots and cooking stuff a little prematurely. It is super hard to eat healthy without being able to cook. Once I'm settled in the new place, it's back to healthy food and getting my fitness on.. for real. I'm looking forward to having TG back around to cook said healthy meals too ; )

I know the chaos is only temporary. We are so blessed to have such great opportunities ahead.

Have you ever used a moving service before? If so, I'd love to hear your suggestions, tips, or experiences. This is our first time using a moving service (but we packed ourselves!).

Living Room Re-vamp

We are so excited about moving to a new city. I'm probably most excited about getting a new couch and re-vamping our living room. I played around with the things we already have and added the new couch/chair to see what it would look like. We already have a bunch of silver frames, the lamp, the coffee table, and the chevron pillows. I'm kind of loving it. What do you think?

I turned 24 and forgot to even mention it on the ol' blog. Things have just been crazy with the move and trying to find an apartment. We were actually up in Chicago apartment hunting over my birthday so we celebrated there.

Growing up, my mom always made our birthdays special. She started our tradition of the birthday breakfast. After we went to bed at night, she would decorate the kitchen complete with a banner, balloons, and confetti. When we were little we were not huge fans of traditional breakfast foods like eggs and bacon. We much preferred donuts. So, the night before each person's birthday, Mom would pick up donuts from Krispy Kreme. We always looked forward to these fun breakfasts on our birthdays.

Since I wasn't home with my family on my actual birthday, Mom made sure to let TG know about our tradition. He woke up extra early so he could run out to get donuts for me to have when I woke up. Very sweet.

We celebrated with TG's dad and stepmom at MK for dinner. I can't say we have ever really had a bad meal in Chicago, but this was one of my very favorites. One of their specialities is their truffle fries which are served with a truffle cream dipping sauce. Words cannot do this sauce justice for how delicious it is.

All in all, a very special day of turning 24.

All Boxed Up.

At this point, my life is mostly packed up in cardboard boxes. Barkley and Chip are quickly running out of room to breathe in this tiny apartment made even smaller by stacked boxes. You never realize how much stuff you have until you try to move it from one place to another.

My mom and sister just left this morning. They got here Friday afternoon. I am so grateful to have had them here to help me pack, organize, and play! We have so much fun together and always laugh so much and so hard. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I feel SO blessed to have such great relationships with my mom and sister.

I can't believe that this time next week TG and I will be making the 18 hour drive up to Chicago. To live. Craziness, I tell you! I hope to document our road trip and the hysteria/delirium that will come with being in a car with 2 dogs for 18 hours. Thankfully, our dogs are good travelers and sleep the majority of the time in the car.

Neither of us expected this move to go so quickly. We are so excited for this next chapter. I hope to become a more regular blogger once all of the boxes are unpacked and my life is in order.

Happy (almost) weekend!

Life and Random Tidbits

We are preparing (both mentally and literally) for our big upcoming move! I can't believe we are actually moving across the country (upwards that is!) in less than a month. I'm going to attempt to capture all of the special moments from the move to post here on the blog. Think driving pictures, pictures of doggies in the backseat, drive-thru food stops, and the overall delirium that comes with driving 18+ hours in the car. We are planning to stop and stay with some friends in Nashville, TN for a night to break up the car ride.

We are going up to Chicago next week for some apartment hunting. My birthday is on the 8th so I will be sneaking in some birthday celebrations as well : ) My mom and sister will be coming the next week to help me back and what not. I'm so excited to see them both!

We don't really have big 4th of July plans. We may brave the beach craziness or just hang out at the pool. Hopefully we can make a dent in the packing situation.

How fun is this cake?

On a completely random note, I can't stop looking at this nursery. I'm not in the market for babies or nurseries but goodness gracious, it's perfect! I'm just going to leave it here so that when I am in the market (years from now), I can find it.

On another random note, have ya'll seen the promo for Most Eligible Dallas? It looks like it will be pretty good. I've never been to Dallas but from what TG says it's a pretty great place.

And one more... do you have an ipad? I'm thinking I want one and would love to hear thoughts/reviews/suggestions!

Well, that's about it.

Have a great 4th of July weekend! Hope your weekend is filled with sparklers, flags, and patriotic cakes.

P.S. Thank you for all of your sweet comments on Barkley's birthday post. I think he's pretty cute, too!
