Everyday Us.

I love this picture.
And not because it's an especially flattering or cute picture. I'm not wearing anything special.
But it does capture the everyday us.
It was taken after a night out.  You can tell by my red wine stained lips. And the fact that Barkley was allowed on the furniture.
TG's hair is a mess. (and for some reason mohawk-ish)
I'm wearing a fleece because I'm cold all the time. (I've been known to take a blanket to the movie theater).
My hair was down and straightened but likely went up the second I got back home.
My toe-nail polish is chipped. I never can seem to keep nail polish on my toes for very long.
The only thing missing is the other dog child. (Chip was likely already asleep for the night)
I will probably look at this picture years from now and be reminded of our first apartment in Chicago.
It's not perfect.
But this life really is pretty sweet.

JoJo Goodness

Have you heard of JoJo Loves You?  They make adorable (and affordable) jewelry. Their signature Bling earrings come in tons of colors and can make even the most simple outfit a little more special. (i.e. brighten up my summer uniform of J.Crew shorts + tee shirt).

This weekend, it's even more affordable.  Their Annual Memorial Day Bling Sale starts tomorrow and runs through Monday, May 28th!

Here are a few of my favorites:

Head on over to JoJo Loves You and pick up a few pairs for summer.

*JoJo Loves You contacted me to share information pertaining to their upcoming sale.  Opinions on this blog are entirely my own.

Random-ness: Friday edition

It has been a week where everyday has felt like Monday.

I've breezed through Fifty Shades of Grey and Fifty Shades Darker. And I'm halfway through Fifty Shades Freed. Like I've said, I'm equal parts ashamed and addicted. The writing is so bad but so very entertaining.

I'm a little obsessed with the May issue of Lonny magazine. And the feature on Jamie Meares.  She is so good at what she does.

I went to Target last night to pick up a necessities and check out The Shops. I wasn't that impressed with the clothes to be honest.  The flats are cute, but I need another pair of flats like I need a hole in my head. There were several pieces of the clothes line that I liked but not enough to buy.

I did buy these greek key plates though. Couldn't help myself. They're bright green on the bottom. And actually are more coral than red.

On a related note, I'm going to make a really sincere effort to stick to some sort of budget.  Due to pinterest and blogs, I've developed somewhat of an on-line shopping problem.  I think my mail lady is judging me.  I will be refraining from online shopping for a month in order to try to be a better saver.  Do you have any tips for saving money/sticking to a budget?

Is anyone going to Blogger Blitz this summer in Chicago? I'm thinking about going but need a wing-woman.

Weekend plans include cooking out (on our new grill!) with some friends tonight and dinner with Jen and her husband tomorrow night in the West Loop.

Happy Weekend ya'll : )

Random Happenings.

  • I'm reading Fifty Shades of Grey for my book club. I can't help but feel like I'm not old enough to be reading it.
  • Last night I got back from my trip home to North Carolina.  I love spending time at home but I'm always a little homesick when I get back to Chicago.
  • My sweet grandma made one of my favorite meals for me over the weekend. She also made me a yellow cake with chocolate frosting...my favorite. Grandmama Louise for the win!
  • I can't find the special edition Domino magazine anywhere. It's supposed to be out now...isn't it?
  • Sophia Grace & Rosie will be on Ellen everyday in the month of May. If you don't know who Sophia Grace & Rosie are, I suggest you set your DVR asap.
  • I miss having a pool. Bad. Living in the Florida sunshine last year really spoiled me.  Over the weekend, my sister caught a glimpse of my pale legs. She made a face and said "that's not normal". Chicago sun, please come out.
  • I think my mail lady thinks I have an on-line shopping problem. She's always commenting about "all the packages" I get.
  • I was kicked off the bus this morning. My CTA card didn't have enough fare.  It had 1.00 left and I needed 2.25. I sat down and searched in my purse for loose change or cash to pay the rest but to no avail. The bus driver said "Miss.." and I walked up to speak to her. She then proceeded to, pull over, open the door and tell me to "watch my step".  I said "What!?" to which she replied "HAVE A NICE DAY". Over $1.25.  I was 2 blocks from the L stop so it wasn't a big deal to walk.  As I walked those last 2 blocks, I thought some very not-so-Christian things and stomped my feet a little. I hope she feels good about herself.
  • Lastly, we can all breathe a little easier today now that Jessica Simpson has (finally) given birth. Praise the Lord.  I wonder if that baby is walking already.
